Good Times [making time]

Hey there,

Hope everyone is having a great Thursday. The surprise party for Kaelin was a big success. ;) Good times were had by all. Wasn't class awesome? God was definitely speaking to us through Kaelin.

Some of you have probably already heard, but this Friday night some of us are going camping at Devil's Den. Everyone is welcome to come. No one is really in charge of this, though. So...you're responsible for bringing you're own food and tent. Maybe you could get together with a few other people and go in together on food and a tent. Let me know if you plan to come so I can let those who will be the first few to get there (but who are not "in charge") know how many camp sites to snag. We'll be staying in the same area as usual...turn left before the bridge and look for a campsite of RFCs.

If anyone didn't hear tonight at church, the Halloween party is going to be at the student center this Saturday night at 7 (I think...maybe 6?).

As usual, we'll be eating supper at the Union at 5:45 this evenin'. I don't know about you but I just can't get enough of this crazy little thing called fellowship. Afterwards it'll be about time for Bible studies and then don't forget about the guys' and girls' prayer groups. The guys' prayer group is one of the greatest blessings God has ever given me. I wouldn't miss it for the world. It's a great way to grow closer to God and to grow closer to your brothers/sisters. It's also a great time of release. And in the guys group it’s a time to release...well, all I'll say is sometimes it can get a little windy. (Get it?) Both groups start at around 9. The girls meet at the student center and the guys meet on Old Main Lawn.

I know it seems like there's a lot going on every night...so much that there's not much time left over to do homework, but still, try to come. I believe that God will reward you for sacrificing your time that he'll strengthen you through all the fellowship your getting and that he'll take care of you and help you get your stuff done. Like Kaelin said last night, you may fail a test but you still get to go to heaven. :) And life isn't about studying and getting good grades...it's about serving and praising Him and spreading His Word. However, there are infinite ways of serving God...so don't go and fail school just because of this email. You can also serve Him by using the brain He gave you to take advantage of the education He's providing for you.

Man, I'm on a roll! But this email is getting pretty long, so I'll let you go soon. I'll have to tell you more about my philosophy about balancing school and grades and about life in general some other time. :)

“Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a ‘fool’ so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. As it is written: ‘He catches the wise in their craftiness;’ and again, ‘The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.’”
1 Corinthians 3:18

“What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world yet forfeits his soul?”
Matthew 16:26

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Romans 12:1-2

L8r dudes,
Mitch
